The critic inside myself says,” What are you doing? Where are you going? Why are you here? You know you can drown? You need air, you need to breath! You can’t do this. You are going too deep! You won’t make it back! You will drown. You are going to die!”.
Those voices, those lies, in my mind are the walls that keep me from serenity. All I have to do is relax and embrace the peace within the chaos, and then suddenly, the walls become transparent. The lie and the illusion of fear becomes more apparent. “You can do this. You are doing this! Isn’t this amazing?! I feel free here. I am at peace. Oh, look at that pretty fishy”
The funny thing about free diving is that it’s in your head. If you panic, you waste oxygen. If you stay calm, you will be surprised at what you are capable of.
